Pay for Transcription work done under contract
For transcription work done, typists are compensated on a pay-by-the-word basis. The pay rate for the work is ½ cent per word.
For serious typists with good skills this will usually generate $12 - $15 per hour after a short period of
working within our system. If your typing skills, speed and ability to turn around jobs efficiently and quickly are good, fast
typists can earn more than $15 per hour.
Typists who approach the work on a more serious, full time basis typically make considerably more per hour than those who sign up
for more limited amounts of work. Increased familiarity with the operation of the SpeakWrite system and software, the efficiencies
of longer periods of time 'at work' without interruptions and a better mix of longer, more profitable jobs assigned to them, all
contribute to this increased net rate per hour. On the other hand, many SpeakWrite typists prefer to schedule their work in shorter
bursts, or to sign in at less traditional hours for their assignments and the SpeakWrite system accommodates them as well.

Methods and schedule for payment for work
Payment for all contract work is made twice a month via check by mail or by direct deposit. Because of banking regulations,
we cannot offer direct deposit for typists residing in Canada.
